The movie that I have chosen to analyse is Spectre, which is an action movie that follows the world renowned ‘James Bond’. Spectre follows Bond as he tracks the person who has been sending people to kill him, IMDB suggest that spectre is about “Bond peeling back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE’’.

The film studios for Spectre are Columbia pictures, Sony pictures entertainment and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Sam Mendes the director of Spectre has also directed Skyfall which was another James bond movie which was made in 2012. Daniel Craig is one of the James Bond actors that has starred in six of the James Bond movies. The first teaser trailer of spectre was on the 27 March 2015 and the other was 22 of July 2015 which was many months earlier than the movie and this was a good way to promote the movie. When people look at the James Bond poster they will obviously see Daniel Craig is James Bond just by looking at the poster.

The trailer for Spectre uses many narrative techniques used by Hollywood action movies as theorised by Vladimir Propp. There are character types such as the hero James Bond (Daniel Craig) as he saves people from danger, the villain as Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Christoph Waltz) as he has been following James Bond since the first movie and sends people to try and kill him and he is responsible for the kidnapping of the victim Madeline (Léa Seydoux). In action movies we typically see heroes, villains, and victims; therefore the trailer will appeal to the target audience.

The trailer has a lot of Barthes action codes like the car chase with the Aston Martin DB10 and the Jaguar CX-75 in Rome this makes the potential audience make them go to the edge of the sit experience when watching the car chase. This tells us in the trailer that is mostly an action and drama movie that’s what the audience feels like. In the trailer it has a few enigma codes like
